The Portage Health Foundation received almost 500 requests for assistance from their Flood with Love relief fund. Officials continue the process of sorting through and qualifying the applications.
For those who need repairs done, contractors will be dispatched to assess the damage, and provide estimates. Officials emphasize that the charitable funds are designated only to complete critical repairs to establish a safe living environment – mold abatement, replacement of furnaces and water heaters, and electrical and structural work. Funds are not intended to provide full restoration of cosmetic damage. Appointments will be set beginning next week, once the initial review process is completed.
For those who have already completed repairs, and have requested reimbursement, Portage Health Foundation officials expect to begin touching base the week of August 13th.
The Portage Health Foundation office will be closed until Tuesday, as staffers complete the initial reviews. They express their appreciation for your patience as they work through the process.
