Flint Committee Hearings Begin Today

The people of Flint Tuesday will get a chance to tell state lawmakers about how they’ve dealt with and feel about the Flint water crisis.

A joint legislative committee examining the water contamination problems in Flint plans to hold a marathon eight hour hearing in Flint so it can hear from city officials, water treatment plant workers, Dr. Mona Hanna Attisha of Hurley Medical Center and Flint residents.

State Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich, D-Flint, says it’s important for his fellow committee members to hear from Flint citizens to learn about the experience on the ground in the city.

He says not much has changed in Flint since the crisis became public, so he expects to hear some anger from the local community.

The committee will meet at the University of Michigan-Flint campus at 10 a.m.
