Fire in Stanton Township Damages Home

A call was received by Stanton Township Fire Department at 6:13pm on Tuesday, November 10th.

The call reported smoke and fire from the attic of a home on Gedvillas Road in Stanton Township.

Two people who were home at the time were out of the house when firefighters arrived.

Stanton Township Fire Department arrived on scene to find the fire has spread from the attic into the wall cavities.

Aid was requested from fire departments in Adams Township and Hurontown.

Because there are no hydrants in the area, water was shuttled in by tanker trunk.

The flames were extinguished in about an hour and a half, but firefighters stayed on the scene several more hours to extinguish legs of the fire in the wall cavities.

A clear was given around 2:30am.

At around 9:30am on Wednesday, November 11th, a neighbor called to report more smoke coming from the home.

Stanton Township responded and found the fire had rekindled in the walls of the home. The second fire was cleared at 11:40am.

The upper story of home is reportedly severely damaged.

The initial fire is said to have been caused by a heater in the attic.

The homeowner reportedly said they were having roof problems so he was working in the attic with a heater trying to dry it. The homeowner then saw smoke, which signaled him to clear out and call 911.
