MLB – Tigers’ Slide Continues
The Detroit Tigers’ skid continued last night, with a 13-1 pounding at the hands of the Cleveland Indians. The Tribe scored three runs early, and drove Detroit starter Shane Greene from the game during a six-run fifth inning. Greene suffered his first loss of the season. Detroit’s only run came on a Nick Castellanos homer.

After a record-setting start, the Tigers have now lost four of their last five games. They continue that weekend home set against the Cleveland Indians this afternoon. Alfredo Simon will start against Trevor Bauer. Hear the first pitch at 1:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers collected only five hits on the way to a 3-0 loss to the Saint Louis Cardinals last night. Matt Garza gave up all three Cincinnati runs over six innings, and took the loss.

The Brewers host the Cards again this evening. Wily Peralta will pitch against Adam Wainwright.

NHL – Red Wings Continue Playoffs
Red Wings LogoThe Detroit Red Wings face the Tampa Bay Lightning in game five of their opening-round NHL playoff series tonight in Florida. The best-of-seven series is tied at two wins per team. Face-off is at 6:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Finlandia Softball Ousted from GSAC Tourney
GSAC LogoThe Finlandia University softball team was eliminated early from the Great South Athletic Conference tournament. The Lions lost their first game yesterday 9-0 to Agnes Scott College, then dropped their second game to tournament host Wesleyan College 7-0. Finlandia collected just one hit in the first game, and two hits in the second. The Lions finish the season with a record of 8-34.

SISU Shuffle Today
The Sisu Shuffle will begin at 11:00 this morning at the U.P. Health System-Portage Hancock campus. This non-competitive 5K event is designed for the whole family. Walk, jog, run, trot, or shuffle. Afterward, six bikes will be given away to registered participants. Registration is free. You can sign up on-site beginning at 10:15 this morning.
