Men have the power to stop sexual violence.
That was the message at a training seminar hosted by Finlandia University in Hancock.
The Men of Strength Club covered topics that looked at how violence against women is committed and what men can do about it.
Finlandia Head Soccer Coach Brent Chase said, “What is our role in a community? What’s our role as a head coach, like myself, and how I can impact the young men by doing different exercises and how I teach them and prepare them for a world after college.”
Most of those in attendance were men, which created an environment that allowed them to open up about this issue.
Chase said, “It can add a bit of anxiety to bring up real topics and discussing things that maybe would offend somebody else but, at the end of the day, it creates an honest environment, which is, by far, more important.”
The two-day seminar was held at the Jutila Center and was grant funded.
