Hundreds of families will get some help today with putting food on the table.
Finlandia University’s Campus Ministry, along with Feeding America and the Western U.P. Food Bank, is distributing 15,000 pounds of food for free.
The mobile food pantry will be at Finlandia this afternoon at 5:00pm with enough food for 300 families to receive 50 pounds of rescued food.
Director of Servant Leadership Rene Johnson says that this is surplus food that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
In order to determine how many people benefit from the distribution, those receiving food will need to provide their names, address and number of people in their household.
There are no income qualifications, however.
Food will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis.
