Feds Deny Funding For Flint Water Crisis

The federal government has denied Governor Rick Snyder’s request for more funding to deal with the Flint water crisis.

The governor had requested funding from the Category B program for emergency protective measures and the Individuals and Households Program.

The governor says the federal denial is a disappointment, and is especially frustrating as it would have provided aid to individual households in Flint.

The governor says to date, Michigan has delivered nearly $70 million in state funding to Flint for immediate clean water resources and ongoing follow-up work.

Flint’s drinking water became contaminated with lead in April of 2014.
