Empty Logging Truck Accident on US-41

A driver of an empty logging truck is fortunate to be all right after an accident this morning in Marquette Township.

Michigan State Police say 18-year old Kassie Metcalf fell asleep behind the wheel of the semi-tractor trailer shortly before 5:00am on US-41 near Brickyard Road.

The vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a ditch and came near to several vehicles on display at the Fox Motors Marquette parking lot.

The log hauler was not loaded at the time of the accident and damage was limited to the undercarriage.

Several near-by vehicles on display may have been damaged when they were struck by flying debris.

Metcalf was cited for careless driving.
