Drones can pose a threat when flown in restricted areas or over large crowds.
It would be unsafe to simply shoot them from the air as they could possibly be carrying explosives.
Researchers at Michigan Tech have come up with a solution on how to deal with them safely.
Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Mo Rastgaar has helped create a drone catcher.
Using a net for an unwanted drone has several advantages.
The drone that is being used is the largest in the market, can travel around 40 miles an hour and is able to carry anything up to an equivalent weight.
The net that is shot is 8 feet by 8 feet and can currently hit a target from as far as 40 feet, although expansion past the current prototype is likely.
A patent for the drone catcher has been recently filed.
