Several pieces of legislation aimed at restructuring Detroit Public Schools have been approved by a state House committee.
The votes were mainly along party lines with Republicans supporting the bills and Democrats voting no.
Prior to the votes many Democrats took issue with the fact that the legislation was only given to them last night and officials with the treasurers office couldn’t say exactly how much money is needed for Detroit Public Schools and the reforms that are suggested.
The legislation now goes to the full House.
A vote could come Wednesday or Thursday.
