The Detroit Free Press reports that a tentative agreement has been reached among leaders, but they must now search for votes in the legislature.
Lawmakers plan to begin their spring break at the end of the week.
In the meantime, the House has approved a $50 million emergency plan to ensure teachers are paid for the rest of this year.
Both the House and Senate hold session Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
