Houghton Farmers Market signFresh produce and homemade baked goods–you’ll find those and more at the grand opening of the Downtown Houghton Farmer’s Market.

The market will be open from 3:30pm to 7:00pm today at 56 Huron Street, across from the Suomi Restaurant.

In addition to the fresh, local foods, the market will also have live music.

Shoppers are encouraged to stop by the Portage Lake District Library for a free Farmer’s Market tote bag and to browse a book and DVD display on health and food literacy.

Children are invited to make their own Mr. Potato Head with potatoes, assorted veggies, and more in the library’s community room.
