Fresh produce and homemade baked goods–you’ll find those and more at the grand opening of the Downtown Houghton Farmer’s Market.
The market will be open from 3:30pm to 7:00pm today at 56 Huron Street, across from the Suomi Restaurant.
In addition to the fresh, local foods, the market will also have live music.
Shoppers are encouraged to stop by the Portage Lake District Library for a free Farmer’s Market tote bag and to browse a book and DVD display on health and food literacy.
Children are invited to make their own Mr. Potato Head with potatoes, assorted veggies, and more in the library’s community room.
The Keweenaw Co-op will host a table in the library with a basket of local items to raffle, free carrots, and more.
The market will be open Tuesday afternoons during the summer.
