Donated Solar-Powered Speed Signs

Speeding is already dangerous and against the law, but speeding through school zones also puts children at risk.

To remind drivers of their current speed, there is a solar powered speed sign located near the Houghton Elementary School.

Soon, there will be two more of them placed on either side of Gundlach Road near Houghton High School and Middle School.

Houghton City Manager Eric Waara said the pair of signs were donated by residents.

The donors wished to remain anonymous.

Waara said the signs should be in place in the next couple of weeks.
