The Department of Natural Resources is challenging a ruling that overturned its order declaring certain types of hogs as invasive species, but the department is rescinding a related declaratory ruling officials said has confused the issue. Marquette County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Solka had ruled last month that the department’s wildlife order was unenforceable as it related to privately-owned Eurasian and Russian boar because it was too vague to determine which animals the policy covers. The department officially filed an appeal on Friday, the last day to challenge the ruling. But the DNR is also in the process of rescinding the related ruling that explained what the department would look for when deciding if an animal violated the order.
