Pitchers and catchers report for spring training Thursday, but members of the Detroit Tigers haven’t just been sitting around during the off season.
Jordan Field with the Detroit Tigers Foundation says all year long members of the Tigers organization are participating in community events like going to a ball game played by special needs kids.
Field says that since the start of the Detroit Tigers Foundation in 2005 they’ve awarded more than 15-million dollars in grant and scholarship money in addition to thousands of tickets to games.
Of course the ultimate prize for the team would be a World Series win but, according to Field, putting a smile on a child’s face is big score as well.
