Democrats in Lansing want a $134 million taxpayer funded project to provide new offices for members of the Michigan Senate halted.
They say the project is not only not needed, the Democrats charge that developer and winning bidder Ron Boji owed taxes to the state.
A spokesperson for Boji reportedly has said a payment agreement had been worked out with the state some time back.
Boji is well known in Lansing not only as a developer but as a campaign contributor to politicians, especially Republicans.
Democrats are calling on the Republican controlled legislature to stop payment on the project, and for senators to remain in their current, albeit aging Farnum Building southeast of the Capitol Building.
Democrats are also calling on Attorney General Bill Schuette to investigate their allegations.
