Democrat Fundraising Jumped Following Courser-Gamrat Scandal

Democrats in Michigan say political fundraising for them experienced a positive bump in connection with both the Courser-Gamrat scandal and the Flint water crisis, although they emphasize that they are not politicizing the Flint crisis.

Michigan House Democrat Andy Schor of Lansing is head of fundraising for Michigan House Democrats this year.

He says the Flint water crisis has resulted in focus among Democrats on the state’s Republican-sponsored emergency manager law, and that has translated to more political contributions.

And the scandal involving former Republican legislators Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat has resulted in a big bump in contributions, with Schor adding “we saw it a ton with the Courser-Gamrat” scandal.

As for the Flint crisis, he says they’re not trying to politicize it, but they did notice some people moving to the Democratic side.
