HANCOCK, Mich. – UP Health System – Portage is proud to welcome Debbie Lorenz, NP to its internal medicine staff in Hancock. Lorenz is partnering with Dr. Katriina Hopper and began seeing patients in late November. Lorenz will also be working with Nephrologist Dr. David Woltmann in the coming months to support care for patients with kidney disease at all stages.
Lorenz is a doctorally-prepared, board-certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of registered nursing experience in medical-surgical and cardiac intensive care. Originally from Duluth, Minn., she specializes in healthy lifestyle modifications for preventing and reversing chronic disease in the adult and geriatric populations.
“The majority of my experience has been with adults and more at the end of life spectrum, and that’s why I went into this specialty,” Lorenz said. “It’s been great to get to know our patients here at UP Health System – Portage. The people of Copper County are a pleasure to care for, because I admire their grit and determination and they have all been just so friendly and accepting.”
Lorenz received here BSN in Nursing from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, her MSN in Medical/Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist from Kansas University, a Post Masters Certificate as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Lifestyle Therapeutics from SAU.
“I love Dr. Hopper’s vision for what she’s doing and her compassion for her patients,” added Lorenz. “I am pleased to be a part of our team approach to deliver high quality care to our patients.
“I am also very impressed with the commitment to excellence and enthusiasm of Dr. Woltmann and all members of the dialysis team and am looking forward to working with them.”
