UPDATE: US-41 Crash Victim Identified

Vehicle involved in crash with logging truck on US-41.

A 19-year-old Chassell man was killed in a crash between a car and a fully loaded logging truck this morning southeast of Houghton.

Police identify the victim as Alexander James Fisher. State troopers say Fisher’s black 2007 Infiniti was traveling eastbound on Denton Road when it failed to stop at the US-41 intersection. It slid into the highway, where it was struck by a 2019 Kenworth logging truck being driven by 49-year-old Gregory Keranen of Pelkie, which was southbound. The logging truck was observed parked along the southbound side of the highway, with front end damage.

Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash took place around 10:00 this morning. The State Police release indicates that troopers “witnessed” the incident. Their investigation continues.

First responders from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, the Houghton Police Department, MTU Public Safety, the Laurium Police Department, Mercy EMS, the Chassell First Responders, Hurontown Fire and Rescue, and Superior Service assisted at the scene.
