Members of a state commission looking to better sentencing and parole guidelines in Michigan is continuing its back and forth on how stringent those rules should be moving forward.
However, before the Criminal Justice Policy Commission can drill down to what statutes to change they have to decide if they’re going to push for legislation to make the changes or just make recommendations for the state to implement.
The commission chair says they’re trying to make the system better but concedes it will never be perfect. The commission meets again next month.
