Embattled State Representative Todd Courser has resigned from the Michigan House, roughly 12 hours after the chamber began debating a resolution to expel him.
Republicans in the House tried to expel Courser twice but couldn’t muster the necessary two-thirds votes to pass a resolution doing so as Democrats fought for a more thorough investigation.
However, shortly before 3:00 a.m. Courser submitted his letter of resignation. Meantime, about an hour after Courser resigned, the House voted to expel State Representative Cindy Gamrat.
Both were accused of misusing state taxpayer resources.
