Courser And Gamrat Lose Re-Election Bids

Former State Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat have lost their bids to win their respective House seats back in a special primary election Tuesday night.

Mary Whiteford took the Republican nomination from the field of eight vying for Gamrat’s seat.

Gary Howell took the GOP nomination in Courser’s former district. 11 people were angling for that seat.

Courser resigned during the early morning hours of September 11th after a House investigation determined he used taxpayer resources to cover up an affair with Gamrat. She was expelled from the House about an hour later.

Just days after their departure both announced they would run in a special election to try and win their seats back.

Whiteford will face Democrat David Gernant in a special general election in March. Howell will square off against Guerrero DeLuca, who took the Democratic nomination Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, David LaGrand won the Democratic nomination in the 75th district to fill the seat vacated by former State Representative Brandon Dillon, who resigned in August to take over as head of the state’s Democratic Party.

LaGrand will take on Republican Blake Edmonds.
