CopperDog 150 Tonight

The big race is finally here. Tonight in Downtown Calumet will be the site of the start of the CopperDog 150 dog sled race. Mushers from across the country will be in attendance to try and conquer the 150-mile, 3-day race with their 10-dog teams. Tom Bauer, who has been mushing for over 20 years says one of the great things about the race is that it is a staged race.

The trail will take mushers from Calumet to Eagle Harbor, then from Eagle Harbor to Copper Harbor, then from Copper Harbor back to Calumet Sunday afternoon. Bauer adds that this year might be more challenging due to the weather conditions.

A quick reminder to all volunteers that all start times for Saturday have been moved back one hour so make adjustments where needed. Opening ceremonies will begin in Downtown Calumet at 6:30pm and the race will start at 7. For a detailed scheduled of the events going on all weekend, head to the CopperDog 150 website.
