The Copper Country Suzuki Association purchases a former Dollar Bay church to continue providing music lessons to the Keweenaw community.
During the past 50 years, the Copper Country Suzuki Association relied on the generosity of churches and other area nonprofit organizations to find spaces for music lessons. This a very exciting moment in the CCSA’s history says executive director Andrew Shaud, which means teachers will have their dedicated studios to instruct students and host recitals for community events. Shaud teaches cello with the CCSA and works with other instructors Brian Wall, and Jennifer Wagner to provide violin and piano instruction to 65 students in the Copper Country.
The CCSA offers programming for all age groups starting as young as five years old and programming for adults of all skill levels. Many students go on to play with the local Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra while carrying with them skills for a lifetime.
