A U.S. Congressional committee took testimony Wednesday on the Flint water crisis.
Among those not there to testify was Governor Rick Snyder. Gerald Edward ‘Gerry’ Connolly, Democratic congressman from Virginia, says the committee should demand the governor testify.
New Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Director Keith Creagh was among those who gave testimony.
He told the committee he couldn’t guarantee Flint’s water is safe to drink yet.
Creagh also says the city, the state and the federal government all share blame for the water crisis. He says they all let the city of Flint down.
Former Flint emergency manager Darnell Early did not appear for the hearing. Early had been issued a subpoena, but his lawyer refused service.
Others who testified include U.S. Congressman Dan Kildee, a Flint Democrat, the Virginia Tech professor who first blew the whistle on problems with Flint’s water and Flint resident LeeAnne Walters.
