Congressional App Challenge Contest Encourages High School Students To Innovate

Washington, D.C.:  Rep. Dan Benishek, M.D. (MI-01) announced today the start of the Congressional App Challenge, a contest that will encourage Northern Michigan High School students to develop mobile applications to improve people’s lives.  The rules of this contest can be found through this link.
“Science, technology, engineering, and math are critical skills that have been proven to lead to good-paying jobs right here in Northern Michigan and around the country.  We need to foster an appreciation for STEM at a young age, and this contest is a fun opportunity for students to innovate for the future,” said Rep. Dan Benishek, a member of the STEM Caucus in Congress.
Contest Dates: Nov 9 – Jan 15
Judging Period: Jan 15- Feb 12
Winner Announced: Feb 22
General Rules:
Student is eligible if they live/go to school in Michigan’s First District
Students must be in High School and be 13 years of age by 11/9/15
Students can submit individually or in groups up to 4
Apps must be original, appropriate, and have been created before January 15, 2016
