Many Copper Country residents are aware that there is an energy issue in Houghton County and a special meeting is being held today to help educate the community on what they can do to save energy. The Houghton Energy Efficiency Team will be meeting with local members of the community for a presentation on the current and future U.P. energy landscape and potential responses to the situation. Afterwards there will be a community discussion. Team member Abhi Katamneni says the rates in Houghton County are significantly higher than many other places.
The team recently moved on to the quarterfinals of the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition which challenges communities to create a long-term plan to solve their local energy issues. Kantamneni says the meeting will be beneficial to all who attend.
The meeting be held on the 7th floor of the Franklin Square Inn with doors opening at 5:30.
