Community College Grants Could Come Back

The Michigan House is poised to take up a bill that would resurrect a grant for adults who want to go back to community college and finish their degree.

Nearly $3 million would be made available to adults who left community college but want to go back part time.

State Representative Paul Muxlow is sponsoring the bill. The Brown City Republican says the intent is to encourage adults who didn’t finish community college to go back to school and get their degree.

The grant was last made available in 2009. Back then it capped the amount a student could receive at $600. The cap has been removed this time around.
