Coffee With A Cop In Houghton

You can get a free cup of coffee tomorrow and sit down and chat with local law enforcement.

Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are hosting another Coffee with a Cop at the McDonald’s Restaurant in Houghton Wednesday from 8:00am to 10:00am.

McDonald’s will be offering free coffee during that time.

Officers from the Houghton County area and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative designed to help build relationships with the community, who normally only interact during emergencies or emotional situations.

Since those situations are not always the most effective time for relationship building, some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street.

Coffee with a Cop is meant to change that impression.
