A five-year-old boy is at Portage Health being treated for injuries sustained from an accident that happened yesterday in Franklin Township. Just before 5 p.m., police responded to the area of Boston Cross Cut Road where a Jeep Cherokee travelling east struck a five-year-old child as he ran into the roadway. Factors in the accidents are believed to be poor visibility, high snow banks and icy road conditions. The Houghton County Sheriff’s office would like to remind motorists to drive carefully according to weather conditions and be aware of pedestrians at all times. Allow extra distance for stopping and be mindful of limited visibility due to high snow banks.
