Charges Dropped on Domestic Violence Case

A man who barricaded himself inside his home has had his charges dismissed in Houghton County District Court. 28-year-old Joel Michaelson was originally facing one count of interfering with electronic communications, which was dismissed in June, and one count of domestic violence. The latter charge was dropped Wednesday. Michaelson was arrested in April after the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible domestic assault incident in Portage Township. Police found him barricaded inside his home with a firearm.
