The local CBS television affiliate has been pulled off DirecTV because of a contract dispute.
WJMN is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting. Nexstar owns 171 stations across the nation – all of which have disappeared from DirecTV and other platforms operated by DirecTV’s owner, AT&T.
On a website it set up to address the issue, AT&T says it offered to pay Nexstar more for the rights to retransmit the stations, even though viewership of the stations has fallen considerably, but that Nexstar demanded “the largest increase that AT&T has ever seen from any content provider.”
Nexstar released a statement saying that AT&T had dropped their stations unilaterally, despite Nexstar’s offer to continue the existing arrangement until a new agreement could be negotiated.
WJMN remains available on Charter Cable, DISH Network, and other services not owned by AT&T. Neither side has shared any information about a timetable for continuing negotiations.
