“Cat burglar” arraigned

52-year-old Warren Meyers of Calumet was arraigned Monday in 97th District Court for an incident that has earned him the “cat burglar” nickname on social media. He will stand trial for four felony charges, including Home Invasion – First Degree, Weapons/Firearms – Receiving and Concealing, Weapons/Firearms – Possession By A Felon, and Felonious Assault. Meyers’ bond has been set at $1,000. As of Tuesday morning, he was still booked at the Houghton County jail.

Meyers is accused of entering into a Laurium residence in the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 24th. Meyers allegedly woke up the homeowner while pointing a gun at his head and demanded both of the cats that live there. He took one, which is still missing, says Laurium Police Chief Robert Kyllonen.

We have no idea where that cat is right now, but we’ll eventually probably find it. We didn’t know where he actually brought it.

Police believe that Meyers and the homeowner knew each other prior to the robbery.
