A measure requiring hospitals give detailed discharge instructions to family caregivers has cleared the Michigan Senate.
The bill is called the CARE Act. AARP Michigan is pushing the legislation.
The AARP’s Lisa Dedden-Cooper says it would go a long way in helping people with little medical training provide basic care including cleaning wounds and giving shots.
A poll, conducted at the end of October, shows 71 percent of the 600 people surveyed want the CARE Act to become law.
The Senate approved the bill unanimously. The measure now moves over to the Michigan House.
