The passing of Labor Day generally signals the start of the fall election campaign. Democratic U-S House candidate Jerry Cannon has put his wife to work on his behalf in his latest television ad. In the 30-second spot, Liz Cannon says her husband was ready to serve as a marine in Viet Nam, a sheriff in Kalkaska County, and an Army Reserve General in Iraq… CANNON AD. The new ad does not portray Cannon in a military uniform, as an earlier ad did. Republican Dan Benishek’s campaign cried foul when that ad ran without the federally-required disclaimer that the use of the uniform did not imply an endorsement by the military. Both Cannon and Benishek walked the Mackinac Bridge with supporters on Monday.
