The Canal Run is searching for sponsors and volunteers to support them for their huge event on July 15.
Health and Fitness Manager at UP Health System Portage, Angela Luskin, said, “Sponsorship is really vital to the Canal Run. It takes, you know, lots of different support within the community but those sponsors really help us put on a just high caliber event. They do that monetarily, you know, through financial support but they also help us in other ways too, like Pats Foods, Festival Foods, helps us with the race ending food and refreshments, and Calumet Floral has just jumped on for the 2023 canal run. They’ll be providing bouquet’s, flower bouquet’s, for all 14 of the overall winners, so everyone contributes differently but it all helps to make the Canal Run a great success.”
The Canal Run Gives back program will give donations to the local non-profit, 31 Backpacks. The Canal Run also is looking for volunteers.
Brown commented, “So it takes over a hundred volunteers to make the canal run a success, and there are several different positions- everything from aid stations, registrations, tons of work goes into [the] safety and medical component, so you know all of these different things all have to be filled. All of these volunteer positions have to be filled in order for us to be successful. And year after year, our community comes out and supports us with many volunteers.”
