Odds are you or someone you know has hit a deer with their car, or you at least have had a close call with one.
The Michigan State Police are reminding motorists to be on the look out for deer, especially during the peak activity periods of dusk and dawn.
Community Service Trooper from the Calumet Post Matt Djerf says if a deer does run out in front of your car, maintain control and don’t swerve.
If you do hit a deer, you should call 911 to report it.
But what about the deer? Under new rules, Djerf says you can get permission over the phone from the authorities to keep it.
You should also call if you find a deer that someone else has hit so someone can come and remove it.
