Applications are now being accepted for this summer’s Camp STAR. Camp STAR is a three-day experience for children ages eight through 17 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Upper Peninsula Children’s Bereavement Network Youth Board Secretary Jean Hetrick says kids can’t always turn to other kids they know for support, because no others in their class or their school may have experienced that kind of loss. CampSTAR matches each camper with another camper who’s going through the same thing, and relationships build quickly through the weekend. Camp STAR will be held August 14th through 16th at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay. You can find more information about it here.
