Calumet’s Elise Matz part of presentation on climate change

Citizens’ Climate Lobby, an organization that describes itself as a “nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address climate change,” is hosting a presentation Wednesday night featuring Calumet Trustee Elise Matz.

The talk is entitled, “Climate and Community in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.” Keweenaw Report was unable to connect with Matz on the subject she would be speaking on. Wind and solar power are both featured on the promotional slide for the discussion which will take place on Zoom at 7:00.

Wind energy continues to be a controversial subject in Houghton and Baraga Counties. Circle Power’s Chris Moore says development is still being looked at in Adams Township. Moore says he believes there are other opportunities for wind farms in the area, but infrastructure constraints have kept the company from seriously pursuing anything.
