Calumet Village Council Meeting: Approval of Minutes and BS&A Software Grant

The Village of Calumet met last night to address previous notes from other board meetings. These were all unanimously approved. Most budget approvals were tabled for the next work meeting.

There were loud discussions about the village paying for the part of a sign that encourages ATV and snowmobile riders to visit downtown Calumet. One board member questioned why the taxpayers’ dollars need to go towards the sign if it’s already completed, and raised concern as to who the payment should go to. The rest of the board said that the amount was within the budget, so it was up to the HDC how to use the money, and that the council simply needed to add it to their books for last fiscal year.

The village also approved a grant from the state of Michigan to install a BS&A software to aid with accounting tasks.
