A Calumet man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car Saturday afternoon.
According to the Michigan State Police – Calumet Post, a 60-year-old Calumet man was traveling north on US-41 near Union Street in Calumet Township just after 3:30 p.m.
That’s when police say a 48-year-old Calumet man ran east across US-41 and into traffic.
The driver tried to avoid hitting him but was unable to.
After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle went off the road into a ditch.
The pedestrian was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw with a possible head injury.
He was later transported to Aspirus Wausau and underwent surgery Saturday night.
Police say the investigation into the accident in now closed and a MSP Advanced Accident Investigator has determined the driver was not at fault.
