Calumet & Laurium Holistic Senior Center Putting Grant Money To Good Use

Tuesdays and Thursdays are special days at the Calumet & Laurium Holistic Senior Center.

Twice a week, the folks host a pot luck lunch for local senior citizens at their center on 6th Street in Calumet.

It’s a place where everyone can come and feel at home.

They can meet new friends and visit with old ones.

Center Secretary Lorena Kurburski says it’s a place that is desperately needed.

The center also teaches how to manage diabetes and hosts other classes such as PATH—Personal Action Toward Health.

The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People recently awarded the center a grant for $15,000.

That money has been going to make improvements such as new computers, a coffee pot, a microwave, and tables and chairs.
