Calumet Lake Snowshoe Walk To Kick Off 'Step Into History' Series

The Keweenaw National Historical Park is one of 25 national parks selected to receive a 2016 Active Trails grant from the National Park Foundation.

Partnering with the Western U.P. Health Department, the park will host a series of walks and outdoor activities to points of interest in Calumet and Quincy units throughout 2016.

The local Active Trails project, titled ‘Step Into History’, invites people to engage in healthy, physical activity in all seasons while exploring local history.

A Step Into History kick-off event, a snowshoe walk around Calumet Lake on the north end of Calumet, is planned for this Saturday from 6-7pm.

The Calumet Lake Snowshoe Walk is free and open to all ages and abilities.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes, but some pairs will be made available at the trailhead, courtesy of Cross Country Sports and Calumet Elementary,
