Calumet High School is the winner of an Education Excellence Award.
Lansing-based SET-SEG Foundation, in partnership with the Michigan Association of School Boards, says Calumet’s “3D Printing in the STEM Curriculum” was one of only 10 programs statewide to win the award.
CHS Teacher Mark Bonenfant’s 3D printer program will be awarded $2,500, which will be used to expand the program to the elementary grade levels.
The mission of the 3D Printing in the STEM Curriculum is to encourage students to use novel and creating thinking by having them follow an engineering design process to analyze and solve problems.
The program also aims to educate students about opportunities in the STEM field and give them hands-on experience with technology they could be working with in the future.
