Calumet High School concert tonight

The Calumet High School Band and Choir will perform jointly tonight in a concert scheduled for 7:30. Director Ryan Watt says it will be a mix of traditional Christmas tunes, contemporary offerings, and rousing marches.

The concert was initially scheduled for the Calumet Theatre, but has been moved to the main gymnasium at the school instead.

The performance is free, but the band is asking for the community to make a contribution via a bake sale. All proceeds go towards a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth in March.

The performance was scheduled pre-pandemic, had to be postponed, and finally is set to happen this spring. Watt says the opportunity is one that is sure to be cherished by all who go, but it remains a very expensive proposition to transport dozens of students and instruments across the country.
