Calumet Drama Presents Vaudeville

calumetheaterThe Calumet High School Drama Club has been awarded a grant of $2380 from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). The grant was awarded for young leaders working on projects that offer community engagement in the arts.  This summer the students will be presenting Vaudeville at the Calumet Theatre, which will showcase talent from our community.

Vaudeville is variety entertainment consisting of diverse short acts.  These can range from singing groups to animal acts to magicians to dance groups.  Acts typically run 5 – 20 minutes.  The community is invited to join in, and local talent will be featured during the weekly shows which run every Thursday night from July 14 – August 11.

Performance acts may be funny, or skillful, or daring, or weird, or simply audience worthy.  Serious drama or even rock bands can audition. Whether you are a solo act or have a group, all are welcome!  Acrobats, Dancers, Jugglers, Puppeteers, Storytellers, Singers, Actors, Magicians, Comedy, even Interpretative Dance. All talents encouraged from the traditional to the modern bizarre.

Auditions will be held the week of each show from 5pm—7pm at the Calumet Theatre:

Tuesday, July 12
Tuesday, July 19
Monday, July 25
Tuesday, August 2
Tuesday, August 9

Vaudeville at the Calumet Theatre Shows will be at 7:30 PM on July 14th, 21st, and 28th, also August 4th and 11th.
