Peterlin Distributing in Calumet is taking part in the energy saving effort.
The company says they are upgrading the lighting in its 34,000-square-foot warehouse by installing energy-efficient LED bulbs that will save energy and cut costs.
Peterlin contracted Hancock-based Blue Terra Energy to install the new lights.
The new bulbs are energy-star rated and are expected to last 15-20 years before they need to be replaced.
The switch is also expected to cut down on 80,000 pounds of CO2 per year.
The company says it will take just 18 months for the bulbs to pay for themselves given the energy they will save.
The new lighting will also increase the brightness of Peterlin’s work areas.
The project began Monday and is expected to be completed Friday.
