Michigan State Police begin a two-week program today focusing on bus safety.
Troopers will be inspecting buses for overall maintenance including the conditions of tires, brakes and exhaust pipes.
In addition, State Police will be verifying driver qualifications and making sure the hours-of-service requirements are met.
If there are violations, buses could be put out of service.
The program is taking place across the country until May 28th.
