Bridge Closures This Week

Multiple closures of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will continue this week.

The contractor for the Michigan Department of Transportation will be reinstalling some of the balance chains and performing other work the Bridge, part of the ongoing maintenance project.

Motorists should expect two-hour closures on the mornings of Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 a.m. each day.

There will also be occasional 15 to 20-minute closures between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Snowmobile traffic on the lower bridge deck will not be affected by these closures.

Additional closures will be scheduled at a later date.
