Bowl for Kids Fundraiser Held For U.P. Kids Big Brothers-Big Sisters

Bowl for Kids at Mine ShaftBowl for Kids Sake is a nation-wide fundraiser benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The event held in Houghton directly supports The Big Brothers Big Sisters program in the Copper Country.

U.P. Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters Program Director, Maggie Munch, says every penny raised from Copper Country Bowl For Kids goes into their local mentoring programs.

Munch said, “Big Brothers Big Sisters provides one-to-one friendship, guidance, and opportunities to children and youth in our local communities. We match caring volunteers with children who are in need of that additional one-to-one attention. Those volunteers spend time each week with the child. And we professionally support each of the mentoring relationships that we have in our program. ”

This is the 24th annual Copper Country Bowl for Kids event. Even though bowling is a huge part of the event, this fundraiser is about much more.

Munch said, “Bowl for Kids is not about the bowling. It’s about having fun for a good cause. It’s a pretty amazing event because the entire community comes out to support our mission. They believe that investing in children is a wise investment. And you can see that by looking around the bowling alley all day long and just seeing so many different people here to support us.”
